I have this CD drive installed but it is refusing to read CDR discs. I have removed it from Sys devices and reloaded it but it is still not reading them. It reads Original CD's okay which leaves me wondering what the problem is. Can anyone help?

If this cd rom reads all "professional" discs, then your cdrom is not compatible with the CDR's that you are using. some of the older ones, and cheaper ones cannot interpret the cdr. I have seen this problem mostly with the blue ones (look on the bottom of the cdr and see what color it is) also, try the cdr in someone elses computer, if it works, then you KNOW cdrom is incompatible.

I have also tried to use Nero to see if it worked to burn a basic CDR but it failed to read the CDR in the tray???????

I have tried various CDR but none seem to work at all. Why??

Someone, please help....... :(

I have once overcome this read limitation by altering the setting in the control panel>system properties>performance>file system>CDrom

Change the setting from quad-speed to " no read-ahead ".

Good luck.
