CD key + installation 1

I download Windows.net from Microsoft. The installation wants a CD key. I thought that this was a free beta version. I cannot find the CD key on the files that I download? Where do I find the CD key??

im not 100% sure of this, but i believe they send it to you in the email telling you where to get it?

Yes, they do send an email, but there is also a page before the download section with a link to another page, which initiates the auto-email system to send you the key. This key is bound to your passport login, so if you distribute it, they know where it came from.

RAS was right. When you got to

http://windowsbeta.microsoft.com

there is a link to get your activation key once you have signed in with your passport.
