CD Drive shows as Local Drive: not Compact Disc:

I have a client's Toshiba 2805-s301 running ME and the Toshiba DVD drive shows in My Computer as a Local Drive, so It never reads the CDs. Any Way to get it back to Compact Disc:?

I tried to remain child-like, all I acheived was childish.

Boot to safe mode. Go to device manager. Remove any instances of any cd drive. Reboot, let it redetect. You may have to restart after it reinstalls the device, to see what the finished result in windows looks like.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
