Help please anyone!!!

I have recently purchased an LG CD-RW (8080B) which is 32X 8X 4X (2MB buffer). I installed the burner as master on IDE cable 2 with my second hard drive as slave, and on IDE cable 1, I installed my first hard drive as master and my CD-ROM drive as slave. The accompanying software is Adaptec Easy CD/Direct CD. My system is a PIII 550 with 192 MB ram.

The burner burns data CD's just fine, but when it comes to audio CD's, the finished products aren't recognised by my DVD player, and they don't play properly on my CD player as the audio regularly skips/fades. I have tried copying to the hard drive first etc, but have had no luck. I installed another program called Nero, but it does the same thing. I have slowed the burner write speed down, but that hasn't worked either. I don't know if I am doing something wrong or not. Any ideas anyone?

Had similar problems. Problems went away when I enabled DMA for all devices.

I had problems exactly like this, but in the end I found it to be the writing software that was incorrectly determining the speed of the CD Reader. Notched it down a speed or two and everything's peachy... :-V [sig]
Phooey
Andrew.j.harrison@capgemini.co.uk
Otherwise known as Windy Bottom.[/sig]

I am using a Panasonic OEM (Matsushita) 4x8x32. I was having all sorts of problems when I first installed it. I tried different software, rearranged the IDE devices and nothing helped. Then, as a last resort, I put in a brand new CD ROM drive and now everything works like a charm. Of course, this would only apply if you are going disc to disc. Otherwise, you might want to try a different brand media. And be sure it's rated for 8X. One thing to keep in mind, is that although you can slow down your burner, it has been designed to burn optimally at 8X.
Also, many CD ROM drives (and probably DVD's as well) don't handle Re-Writable media very well. Try a Write-once disc if you haven't already.

Good luck.

I hava a Liteon Cd writer 8x4x32. Windows Me (Milenium Edition) dont recognice it. What can I Do?
Thanks.

my burner won't work when my cd-rom is connected but it works when i discommected it can any one help. thanx

I have the exact same burner LG model.
With 3 HD's in my system, I had to remove my old CD-ROM, but that's another story.
I found it works BEST, when attached as Primary Slave. I tried it in all other configurations, and it would burn data easy, but audio was crap. Finally got it in the right place, and use my fastest HD to copy from.
Are you using the EasyCD or the DirectCD?
I found the EasyCD Creator worked much better than DirectCD.
