I have a Sony CD-RW CX300E. My computer does not recognize it as a burner. Sony says that 2k should have driver. 2k says that I need a driver from the manufacture. Installed Adaptec, Nero, Roxio and nothing works to recognize drive. Any suggestions?

First thing I'd do is get onto Google.com and search for drivers on that model drive. Without the correct driver no burning program (Roxio, Nero etc) will work.

You could also search on a driver board like

Drvers should not be necessary; the burning software must be recent enough to recognise the drive. If you have bought an OEM drive and installed burning software that is too old to recognise the drive it may be 'blocking' it. The most likely culprit is Easy CD, in my experience. Completely uninstall all CD burning software that is on the machine, check the software manufacturers sites for howto's. Once you are sure that there are no traces left, install Nero 5.5.10.13 or later (or the equivalent software of your choice).

Go to the manufacturer's web site, look for support and drivers, download the driver for your burner. Once installed, windows should automatically detect it. If not, right click my computer\properties\hardware\device manager expand the cd\dvd drives, if there's a yellow exclamation, double click on the device, select reintall drivers, and point it to where the application for your downloaded driver was installed.

Hope this helps.
