CD Burner - free/cheap software?

I have an older Mitsumi 2X CD-R - the software, Parassi CD-Right, doesn't cut it (Doesn't recognize newer file after updating & burning again). I haven't been able to find any decent free or low-cost burning software. Mostly I do data, not so much music. I'd like something like Nero, but not for $50.

This will record at 1x but it is free. If you buy it, the recording feature speeds up.
