i have 16x10x40 cd burner and loading easy cd creator 5.0 platinum on my computer. every time i attempt to burn a cd it crashes windows and i have to restart. i have tried every setting known and no luck. ecdc recognizes the cd burner and does fine during the tests but when it comes down to burning the cds it freezes the computer.

thanks,

First try the Roxio web site, there are updates for the ECDC 5 that are essential, it was very flaky as first released. This is absolutely vital if you are running XP but is also important for earlier Win versions. All things are possible except skiing through a revolving door.

Try using another burner program. The older Ez CD creators are more stable. They won't crash your computer. The new cd creator programs are nothing but a hassle, I as well am having a problem with this program.

If you are running XP, I found that EZ CD Creator 4 works the best. If you can't find a copy of that, I suggest buying a copy of Nero Burning Rom. It does the same exact thing that EZ CD does, and a whole lot more. I run that on my XP machine with zero coasters and no crashes.

using windows 98.
i have used nero burner, nti cdmaker, and some other weird program. it always crashes windows.
i have found out though, if i uncheck the buffer underrun thing it doesnt freeze the computer and it makes about half way through the cd but it fails and ejects saying that there were errors and stuff on the cd.

and the cd's are compatible and have tried multiple brands

thanks,

I took the CD burner out of my brother's compuer (original location) and put it into my computer. It worked like a charm on mine! I have Windows XP, he has Windows 98 SE. Could that alone make a difference?

thanks,

With the problematic computer, just install and uninstall after boot, all the burning softwares (you tried previously) one by one. When the system is free of all the burning softwares, install the only one you want to use.

It should solve your problem.

Best of the luck.
