CD and Floppy do not work

Make sure the cables for both drives are securely connected.
If ok, then install different known working cables, and connect different power leads.
If no luck, then install a different known working CD-ROM drive.
If that fixes things, then yours is bad.
If no luck, then install a different known working FD.
If that works, then yours is bad.
If replacing both drives one at a time does not work, then both of your drives may be bad.
This is not a usual occurrence, but I've seen it happen a few times.
