Hello, I'm preparing myself for CCNP and would like to have some comments.
I have the opporunity to have 1 Cisco 7206 e/w 2 ATM card 1 serial 8 ports and 1 Fast Ethernet port. & A Cisco 3600 serie e/w 2 Fast Ether. and 2 T1 DSU/CSU cards, is this would be a good startup at home ! All this would be for free.

BCMSN ?
BSCI ?
Thanks.

Hello
I haven't seen any ATM ot T1 labs on the course material. But if it's free go for it.
Most people go for the BSCI,it could be because they have the routing protocols fresh in their minds after the CCNA.
Regards

scorney,

I am not sure what your asking - someone wants to give you a couple of Cisco routers with ATM and Fast Ethernet modules for FREE - uhhh like YES ! Just make sure you do not need aspectice gloves to handle them :)

I wish someone offered me FREE Cisco routers with ATM and Fast Ethernet - all I see is very old 10base t hubs :-(

It sounds like it would be a good start to a home CCNP lab - just "Google" ccnp lab rental or ccie lab rental and you can get a good idea of what other equipment you might want to look for on eBay.

Also as you are going through whatever books you are using to study you will get an idea of what you will need based on any labs they might have you do.

Nice thing is that both the Cisco 2500s and 2600s are getting cheaper on eBay and can help round out your lab as needed.

Good luck and if you have anyone else getting rid of Cisco routers just point them our way :)

Thanks guys for your help...

Yes I do have a chance to have Cisco Routers for free, but this stuff is lend to me for my preparation of my CCNP. My company offered it to me as it was sitting in the corner since a little while and I don't have a timeline but as soon as it would be require then I'll have to give it back.

Today I took a 2600 with 1 T1 WIC, 2 Fast Ethernet, 2 Ethernet ports and 1 serial port...I didn't take the 3600 as It was needed for a customer trial. I also took a Cajun P333 switch.

They are really nice with me, So now I have to get hot and practice...

Thanks again .
Sylvain

dude...it's free! : )

i have been using dynagen and dynamips and they have been able to do everything I need to do for the bsci. If you have time, check it out. You need real IOS, but you should be able to get it of your routers or somewhere else...

Hi NortelDude78 !

I'm in process to install the Dynamips and Dynagen...

I'm following a nice little step by step video locate at:
Video on how to set it up

click on
Cisco - Dynamips and Dynagen install on Linux

software to dowload

I do have issues with GLIBC is not installed and when I try to install it the system reject it.. I'm running RedHat 8.0 on an old laptop that I had for LINUX learning, but I think Ièll dload it with Fedora and give another try...
On what machine did you install yours ?

Thanks,
Sylvain

im using windows XP pro...i've never ran it on linux...let me know if you get it going on fedora. those tutorials at blindhog are the same way I got started.

There is a really great forum at
They have sample labs and topologies there. Good luck!
