Categorizing external content source?

I have set up an external web content source, and indexed it. I have a category set-up that should map to its data. Can I categorize the content source? Can I categorize the things that the content source crawls? If so, how?

When it comes to taking advantage of features such as categories, best bets & document profiles, the document you must be stored in the web storage system. So, unfortunately, the only way to assign categories to a page or multiple pages would be to add them to the web storage system. The only workaround I can think of would be to create shortcut documents pointing to a few select pages on the external site.
