catalyst 5500 : congestion?

Hi all, need some advice. I hv a catalyst 5500. Recently, when I run command sh interface, I see a lot of packets dropped. Is this a sign of congestion? How do I find out if the catalyst 5500 is facing congestion. Appreciate all help. Thank you.
