Hi All,
I have a Cat 3550 with inline power that's freezing up for no apparent reason. I can un-plug ports that are active and the link lights do not change status, they're not blinking or responding to pings. We have to kill power and plug back in each time. There's nothing in the logs to show anything but a new restart. It doesn't seem to be a software problem since its not giving me anything to work with like failures on ports and such. Even via console connection, it doesn't respond once its locked up.
The switch is only about half full and its RAM & CPU usage is low. CPU is around 3% & RAM is almost 20%. It is mounted in a cabinet in a shop without any air conditioning. Could this be heat related? It seems to lock up between 11 AM and 4 PM ish. IOS version is 12.2.25(SEB4) I believe it has 64 MB RAM and is linked to one other switch via fiber. There are maybe 10 PC clients & a half dozen IP phones (7912 & 7960) connected. We have VLAN1 & VLAN 76 for voice. The Gbit ports are trunks with dot1q enabled.
If there's anything that comes to mind, please let me know. I can post the config if necessary but I don't have it handy at the moment.
Thanks very much for your time!
