Catalyst 2950 (can not link to another switch)

We have a Catalyst 2950 switch. We has power problem, and it lost its IOS. I installed IOS vis Xmodem. Now, I can not uplink it to another switch(D-Link). Is there additional setup I need to do? Do I have to setup VLAN? When I connect both switch with either straight or crossover calbe, the LED stays off.

Can't help with the IOS problem, though a straight cable will definitely not work.

You need a crossover to go to the dlink . Also unless you can post the config not sure what else to tell you , normally you should be able to just boot it up and plug it in . Are you sure the 2950 booted all the way up , at the console it should read "switch>" .

I have tried stright and crossover cable. Nothing works. If I connect a PC to the switch, the LED is on. I can ping the switch. I can access the console, and I can see "switch>" However, if I connect it to a D-Link switch, there is no connection. I am 100% sure the dlink switch works. I recently had to recover the software.

On the 2950 connection to the Dlink. make sure the port is setup switchport mode access , not trunk . Dlink probably doesn't suport trunking.

Thank you for helping me. Do you mean I need to enter "switchport mode access" command for all the ports? I think I have done that for port 1 to 23. I have also tried to plug uplink calbe into other ports. But, no LED.

I also can not access "express setup page" Do you have to install it on Cisco Switch?
