Does anyone know the difference between a Cisco Catalyst 2900XL and a Catalyst 2900?

We have a network strung between two buildings with fiber connectivity between two Cisco 2900 switches. Both used to be 2900XL's. One of the switches went down and Cisco sent us a replacement but it is only a 2900 not a 2900XL. Files that used to take one minute to transfer across the network from one building to the other now take ten minutes. It's like we went to 100 mbps to 10. All port lights show green. When we installed the switches initially we didn't configure them in any way. We just plugged them in and ran. Do I need to configure the replacement 2900 for 100 mbps?

Check the configuration and see if the duplex is full and speed set to 100. If the two sides are not fixed to the same settings then speed issues can occur like you are describing. Check the errors on the ports to see if errors are showing up (show int faste ....).
