Catalyst 2808 1

Have a Catalyst 2808 that cannot be password recovered without obtaining a factory-installed password that cisco will not provide without a contract with them (see below). Has anyone done this to provide some insight into getting into this switch? Thanks for whatever can be passed along...


Introduction
This document describes the password recovery
procedure for the following Cisco products:
• EtherSwitch 10/100, 1200, 1220, 1400, 1420
• FastSwitch 10/100, 2100, 2800
• FastHub 100+, 300
Procedure
For the above mentioned Cisco products, there is no
standard password recovery procedure. If you forget
the password, the Cisco device can be accessed by
using the factory-installed password. Once you gain
access to the device using the factory-installed
password, you can change the password to a known
password.

Does your switch have a mode button on the front or is it a early model?

If it does hold the mode button when applying power to the unit. After the 1x port led goes off, let go. You are then in the diag menus where you can reset the password.
