BE 10
We had it set to keep catalogs for 12 months, and catalogs are on a drive with plenty of space.
After this latest round of updates, all the catalogs over two months old disappeared. I had done a restore a week or so prior to the updates from April and it done fine. THen this week, a user wanted a file restored that was on the same tape set is how I discovered the missing catalogs. I then looked at the settings and it was set to 60 days. (I didn't change it!) Also, I tried to re-catalogue the tape set involved but it was taking way too long. I had to cancel it after running almost 8 hours because it would have ran into the next scheduled backup, and it had only made it to the second tape!
As info: It's a vxa 10 tape library. We back up a little over 300 gig on three servers the first friday of every month and do incrementals every night except the first friday. The full usually takes 5 tapes. We also robocopy shares on the three servers to another server off-site nightly (it's easier to get this morning's accidentally deleted file (95% of our restore requests) from the other server than it is to go to tape.
There is nothing in the event logs that would indicate a hardware problem. Has anyone else seen this behavior?
