I am working on an book "European Children Sing and Cook"
There are 5 schools working together.
I ust Windows XP
I use Quark Xpress 4.0 to style the Pages for printing

I got the pages in word from the Schools in Italy, Germany, Slovenia, Slovakia and Austria.

There are problems with the "caron" on C

v v
Èeské, chodské a moravské koláèe

How can I do it correct?

Thanks Liese

Quark does not support Unicode which is what you'd need to use the "real" C-with-caron character.

Fake it using a lowercase-v. Create a character style sheet called Caron-Uppercase ... I used 12pt Arial, 150% horizontal scale, 5pt baseline shift, type style: superior, -130 kern. Type "vC", select the v only, and set the style to Caron to see the results; make adjustments as necessary. Create another style for Caron-Lowercase the same way.

In Word, use find/replace to change all the C-with-carons to some unlikely character combo like VVVVC (uppercase) or vvvvc (lowercase), using the 'case sensitive' option.

Import the marked-up text to Quark, then do a Find/Change: deselect the "Ignore Attributes" checkbox, select "Document" for global changes. "Find What" should be 'VVVV', "Change To" should be 'v', and change it to the Caron-Uppercase style sheet. Repeat with 'vvvv' to 'v' for Caron-Lowercase.

thanks for this information! I will try it immediately.
