Capturing Sounds like CHIPMUNKS!

Hey gang! Need some help. My computer hard drive was recently wiped clean by our computer guys. Before this happened, I had no trouble at all with Premiere 6.5. I just reloaded Premiere, and now when I try to capture the video and audio is sped up. I've tried all the settings, but it doesn't change what it looks and sounds like when trying to capture. Does anyone know what this could be? thanks!
