I am recording off a TIVO unit and when it is playing on the TV it looks great, but once it is captured the quality is about half as good. Any one has any setting used that will give me good quality? Also what is the best way to export to get good quality, let's say for a 30 minutes clip to a 700MB CD? I appreciate any comments.

I believe TIVO using MPEG compression to capture its footage. When you recapture it (not sure how you are doing this) you are most likely recompressing it. Recompressing already compressed footage will give you the bad results you are experiencing.

I have seen people just copy the files from Replay(similar to Tivo) directly to there computers hd. This way you get a direct transfer (no loss). They simply open up there Replay box, hook it up to a PC and copy some files.

There are websites out there that have some instruction on this.
