Have two machines in a workgroup, W98SEII and XP Home. Have shared the C: drive of both. XP and read and write W98's drive, but W98 can only read XP's drive not write. Access denied. I have the same user created on both the systems.

I ran a test in a different environment to determine if NETBIOS had to be enabled over TCP or if it could just accept the DHCP default from the LinkSys router, and it worked without specific enabling. Have to try this in the client environment next.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks a bunch!!

David

Asking the obvious, but is simplified sharing is enabled is the ‘Allow network users to change my files’ box ticked on the sharing tab?
Or, if non-simplified sharing is enabled is either the user id logging on to win98 machine or the everyone group present in the share permissions with at least the write box ticked (full control for creating & deleting files too)?

Good points. I believe so, but I have to go to the client site to check.

Thanks!
