Can't view picture or clip art in a word document

Hi for some reason I can't see pictures or clip art that I've inserted into a document.

I can see the place holders and if I select open picture on picture toolbar the picture is appearing.

Also when I right click on the place holders I'm not getting the option to format object.


Any ideas/fixes.

Uncheck picture placeholders...
Check Drawing objects...

Thanks Dreamboat knew it was something to do with the view options but couldn't remember.
