Hello,

I just upgraded a PC from Win98 to XP Home Edition.

After upgrading, I installed Sims 2 for the kids. There was some kind of problem during the beginning of the install that asked me if I wanted to send the data to MS but there was no error messages that I saw.

Even though the error came up the install continued and seemed to work ok.

However, once it was installed and tried to launch Sims2 the PC rebooted it self.

So I figured... "I'll just uninstall it". Problem is, whenever I try to uninstall (whether from the Control Panel or from the Start Menu for that program) I get an hourglass for just a sec and then nothing else shows up on the screen.

So my question is... Is there some utility to remove all traces of a program? By that I mean not only the files from the install directory but any registry settings, etc.

Thanks in advance for ANY help.

I hate Sims2 as a PC application. It is just so troublesome.

A suggestion by a MS-MVP gamer:

Step A: Start your computer in Safe Mode by holding down the F8 key during system start, and selecting Safe Mode from the menu that will appear.

Step B: Reinstall the game to the same folder it was installed to originally, and then try to uninstall it again using Add-Remove programs If that fails, delete it's folder and any saved games in My Documents.

Step C: Install and Run Regcleaner and if it finds any stray registry keys for the game, delete them:

Thanks! I'll try that tonight and see if it resolves the problem.

System Restore might be an option too?

Type "System Restore overview" in the Help and Support Center program for details.
