can't setup a HP 695c to work with CUPS

I'm trying to get my HP printer to work using CUPS(Common UNIX Printing System), I have a Solaris 8 system, the printer is connected to the parallel port /dev/printers/0.
When I add the printer (using the easy web interface) and send a test page nothing happens, and then when I restart the job I get:
Error:
client-error-not-possible

I've been stuck like this for hours!
