Yes, I know about setting system preferences. It's not working for me. I set a preference to use standard F keys but it doesn't work, even after I restart. I still get the new functions, which I do not want.

What mac are you using?
My iMac with the new style Apple keyboard (aluminium one) requires that I press the "fn" key with the function key.

I am also using the new aluminum keyboard. I'll try the fn key when I get home. If that's the case, though, I'll probably toss the keyboard and go back to my old one. Not exactly a shortcut when you have to press 2 keys.
Is it within a specific app? Such as InDesign?
I believe you need to set the Keyboard shortcuts within the app.
