I have a user on Windows NT 4.0 with Outlook 97 who is unable to send mail. All mail is staying in her Outbox. When she tries to send mail we get a Dr. Watson error that says Access violation error has occurred in mapisp32.exe at 0xc0000005. Then there is an address listed. We can close the message but then Outlook seems to be locked up and we have to CTRL+ALT+DEL to get out of Outlook.

She seems able to send mail internally to other Exchange mailboxes on our server but if we try to send to an external SMTP address, regardless of the address, it will not send.

We reinstalled Outlook and ran a repair on the NT installation with no luck.

Any ideas are appreciated.

I will try what is mentioned in this article. However, we do not use the Remote Access Service as far as I know so I am not sure when it says to configure the port you want to use what I should do there.

I will try and see what I can do with this.

I had found this earlier and provided it to the technician that was trying to help me resolve the problem. He informed me this would not help us so I don't think he tried this. I will try myself to see if it does any good.

Thanks,
Amanda

I tried the Microsoft article about Remote Access Services
but that didn't make a difference.

I renamed the mapisp32.exe file and copied and pasted the file from the setup CD and things seem to be corrected.
I will keep an eye on it and see if all is OK now.

Thanks for the suggestions.
