My sister's PC crashed and she had it replaced. A technician was able to retrieve the files out of all user profiles except for her son's - he had his area password protected. I took the harddrive off the crashed PC and connected it to my PC as a slave drive to try to get the files for my nephew. I was able to browse to all other user areas, but when I tried to go into his user area, it said it was not accessible. I'm presuming this was because his user logon had been the only one with a password. BTW, we do have the password for this area - just not finding a way to use it to get in. Anyway, I tried to make their old harddrive the master on my PC to boot off of it, but it wouldn't boot. Any ideas of how we can get get into this user area when the harddrive is connected to my PC as a slave?

Booting of a drive from another computer is only going to work in about 1% of the cases, the difference in hardware alone would make it impossible..

Keep it as a slave, and take ownership of the Profile folder.

You'll need to use an Administrator account to do it though.
