Hi -

I have a GAL entry for a deleted user still showing up in the GAL. How do I get rid of this old user address from the Global Address List?

Thanks!

btw- this is SBS2003, w/Exchange 2003

How long ago did you delete the mailbox? Have you tried to force replication across your servers?

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

Hi- thanks for the reply!

I just deleted the user this morning. I have not forced replication.

I have seen it take up to 15 days for an address to drop off of the GAL. Do you still show it in Exchange Admin?

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

Hi again-

Exchange Admin?? Do you mean the Exch. System Manager MMC? Wasn't Exchange Admin from 5.5?

Anyway, I guess I'm a little confused- this is SBS, so there are no other sites, and hence no replication. And generally, user account changes are reflected immediately in the GAL. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you?

Right it is called the Exchange System Manager MMC. Sorry I forgot this was a 2003 forum. Not really much I can help you with.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

Where are you looking at the GAL? From outlook? If you are and are using cached mode then you may just have to syncronize your address book to see the change. I have to do this when I edit the GAL (add a new title or phone number) and some people want to see the change immediatly. I just walk them through manually doing it on thier outlook client. Hope this helps and if not at least it didn't hurt : )

Yes- I am looking from Outlook 2003 client, and yes it was (is always) in cached mode. I did sync the OAB a couple times, and still saw no changes. But, about an hour ago it diappeared. Next time, I'll remember to hide him first, then delete.

Thanks everyone!

ps- DestinysDream- no prob- thanks anyway! I still miss some of those things in 5.5;....... but then again, glad it's gone!
