Can't remove last 5.5 server after ex2003 migration

Hello,

I have completed a Migration from Excahnge 5.5 to Excahnge 2003 and all works fine. I left the old exchange 5.5 server running for two to three weeks to allow all users to log on so their profiles get migrated to point to the new server. I've removed the internet mail connector from exchange 5.5 and followed the steps in the microsoft document to remove the last exchange 5.5 server for the organisation. I'm at the stage of trying to delete the excahnge 5.5 server but when I try and connect to the Echange 2003 server from the excahnge 5.5 administrator I get the error
"A connection could not be made to the Microsoft Exchange server computer "RREX01" The microsoft exchange server does not respond. ID no: DS_E_COMMUNICATIONS_PROBLEM"
I can ping each server from each other. and I can see RREX01 (new server) from the ex 5.5 admninistrator and alos see the Mailbox Resources.
I am also getting and event in the New servers app log Source MSADC Catagory LDAP Operations Event ID 8026
"LDAP Bind was unsuccessful on directory <new server> for distinguished name '<old exchange server>'. Directory returned error:[0x51] Server Down. (Connection Agreement 'Config CA_<new server> #4868)


Any thoughts?

Update,

Have it sorted. I had missed the fact that thr SRS service was stopped, silly me...
