I have 52 closed data CDs created with Easy CD creator 5 on W95SE. The data is mainly Photdeluxe image files with some Word docs. I have upgraded recently to W2000 (with dual boot)and am unable to read any of these CDs. System sees them as blank discs and asks if I want to format. The CDs read OK on W98. I have gone to Nero on W2000 and newly written CDs read fine on both systems. Because of the quantity, rewriting the 52 on Nero would be the last option! Anyone any ideas?

Have you tried installing a secondary CD-ROM drive on the W2K system, then trying to read them from the new drive? I don't know if that would help or not, but I have seen burners that can't read their own burned CDs, but other PCs can read them fine.

Thanks for your reply. I should have said that I have a Creative 52X CD reader also on the system and it behaves the same as the Plexwriter 24/10/40A used to write the CDs. Neither device will read the CDs on W2000 but both read the CDs OK when W98 is booted in.

On win2k there was a problem reading c.ds that were burned with easy c.d creator where the data is there but win2k cannot read.To solve the problem download SP3 from microsoft which should solve the problem.i think the solution from MS was on SP1 but that is the problem anyway! The drive u have fitted wont make a bit of difference as it a OS problem
hope this Helps
David

Thanks David. I have done the Express installation of SP3 and the relevant file udfs.sys is at the level which microsoft say will fix the problem - unfortunately it has made no difference. At least I know that Microsoft recognise the problem and I will have to chase up what to do next. The full SP3 is too big for a download at 128Meg will get a CD anyway but not hopeful it will fix this problem.

Try downloading the newest version of Easy CD Creator, which is 5.3.xx. It fixes some of these problems. Newposter

John,
Have you tried the UDF Reader file: udfread_v5.1.1.213_inst ?

Thank you horqua, the UDF reader solved my problem. CD creator has been closing CDs in UDF format instead of CDFS. I'm sure the appropriate selection was made on the "eject" sequence. Odd!!
