Can't "Import" my DB

I guys, I am new to oracle and all his "wonders" and i sure apreciate some help importing my db, I have and .DMP file (thats my whole DB) so, what do i have to do to have replica from the source (where i creat the .dmp file)I did create a db with the wizard (with the default values)what else do i have to do? do i just import it????can somebody walk me true these??? also, how can i make a cold backup?? where is the directory that i have to backup??

Hi,
It can be more complex than that,depending on where you are importing to...If the same database that it was exported from, use the IGNORE=Y parameter on the IMP command line..

If that is not the case, some preparation of the 'target' database is needed...

Read, read, and then read some more on the Oracle Utilties ( IMP and EXP ) - and on Backup and recovery..Very Important and needs to be fully understood.

If you do not have the docs on your CD or hard drive
create a shortcut to
you will use it a lot....
