Windows 2000 Pro SP3 running a dos program which will not print. Can't even print using command prompt to LPT1: printer is a local Epson LQ-580.

I have disabled bi-directional printing and made sure port set ECP in Bios.

Can anyone help??

Can you print in windoz? Also check if your printer is a windoz only printer, if it is, it can't see Lpt ports without windoz

Solved It!! You have to turn off the advanced printing features in the printer driver. Then it works fine!

Thanks for the advice though. Much Appreciated

Maybe somebody can help me now...
I have a HP LJ3150 all-in-one (printer, fax, copy machine, and kitchen sink). Printer is networked via a JetDirect box. Printer software documentation states that this printer "needs" the LPT1 port in order to function properly. It also states that the full version of the software MUST be installed locally if printing from DOS. Software has been installed locally. I have captured and redirected LPT1 to print to \\server\printername /persistent:yes to our network print server.
Upon printing a SQR report from PeopleSoft the (DOS) print job goes into the printer, shows it spooling, and then disappears into never-never land. This then requires that the 3150 printer and the Jetdirect box be powered down and back up sequencially.
I removed the advanced features setting suggested in the last post and still have the same results with the exception that all other printing (Windows) is now goofed up. Any help/discussion you can give is appreciated.

The features in the all-in-one may be the reason to have the unit attached to a computer/parallel port. The scanner part may not be networkable and it won't work as a network device since the functions are all tied together.

With my previous experiences with Jet boxes, you can upgrade their firmware which is downloadable from the HP website.

This has solved many a querky fault for me in the past.

Good luck
