I am having a problem listening to ContactStore recordings using Windows 7 and IE8 i don't hear any sound, but the timeline moves. I tried Firefox 3.5 but I don't get a player option at the top of the browser.

Playback works on Windows XP, and with IE8, has ever since i started using ContactStore, about 5 years ago.

I've seen a posting in the Avaya community forum about this relating to vista, but is there any new information related to Windows 7? Is there a work around. I've also posted this on that fourm.

I don't think it is a browser issue because when i copy a wav file to my computer windows media player displays a "Windows media player encountered a problem while playing the file" message.

My 3rd party support person it may have to do with the G711MU codec Avaya uses, but i am waiting for confirmation about that.

Any suggestions users!

I play it on my Windows 7 64-Bit and my co-worker plays them on Windows 7 32-bit. Nothing fancy just click the play button.

Kholladay, i've tried playing on both a 64 and 32 bit Win7 computers, and it doesn't work, which is why i am asking the question...

thanks for your help??

When you launched the application did it prompt you to install the Verint Replay Controls?

The point of my response was to state that it works, not to be an @$$. If it is not working for you then perhaps you should look at your computer setup.

He is suggesting (correctly) that this isn't an issue with the Avaya recordings or software it is something your PC's have in common that's causing the issue, I have not seen this issue either but it'll be Microsoft related I'd wager :)

I think my post is clear; this is related to my Windows 7 PCs. There isn't a problem with my recordings or my database, i can play these files just fine on a Windows XP PC. I don't remember, (it's been about 5 years now), ever being prompted about "Verint Replay Controls". But no matter, if i drag a WAV file to my computer the Media player barfs anyway. It's like Win7 doesn't like the Codec that are contained in these files.

I guess no one else is having this problem? Avaya is silent about this also.

try to take an existing wav file and play that one and if it plays change the properties to the same values that the wav file form the CS has
bit rate
sample rate
channels
etc and see if it just doesn't like the format

or you could take a voicemail left for someone and try to play that one.

If it doesn't prompt you to download the replay controls it won't have the ability to playback the recording. Likely this download allows for the playback of the G.726 compressed files although I have no proof of that. If it isn't prompting you to do this then you may want to check out your IE settings to insure that Active X downloads are prompted or enabled and not disabled.

I haven't seen many documents from Avaya on changing security settings in Windows, with the few exception back with IMS (DCOM) and Windows XP firewall. For them to assume to propose a security setting would open them up to being responsible for any potential risks associated with the changes being made.

Good catch tlpeter. Apparently I've had my head up the arse of R6 for so long that I forget that people still have older software out there.

I think he was very clear that you mere mortals know nothing and your suggestions are way off base.

It's people like you who generalize.

My version of ContactStore is 7.2.9, what is the latest version?

7.8.16

7.2.9 will upgrade but you'll want to backup as there is no downgrade.
