Hi all. I have a Cisco Fast400 Hub that does not respond to ping or telnet.

The odd thing is that the hub passes traffic and does allow client traffic to pass through .

Has anyone ever seen this before?

thanks

It probably just means that the management interface isn't configured properly.

I forgot to mention that this is an intermittent issue. Some days it does work. Then stops working for days at a time.

Hmm....If that's the case then it definitely could be a problem on the Fasthub. I've seen other devices behave that way and it's almost always a bug in the code. Maybe it's time to upgrade that hub to a switch! :-)

Could also be an IP address conflict. From a PC where you telnet to this hub, you could try noting the MAC address returned when it works (arp -a) and see if it differs when it doesn't work.

This is just a shot in the dark and, to be honest, it probably is the hub itself and I'd try a different device there myself as previously suggested.

Well, I just configured the replacement hub.

I went into the communication room and cannot console into the old hub.

SO, it's definitely something odd with the old hub.

Thanks for your suggestions.
