Can't open PDF attachments in oulook express 6. Win. 98SE

I upgraded to outlook express 6 from version 5 and now I can't open PDF file attachments. I get this meassage: "There was an error opening this document" and "Could not repair file"
I am using Win 98 SE.
I re-installed windows and IE 6 but with no results.

I hope somone can help.

i also get this sometimes
is it for one or two pdf attachments only or everyone of them?
i've ever come across .pdf that split themselves into 2 when received by outlook . only one file can be read
but there is no disruption to the content
some of my office users proposed that it seems to happen when the pdf file is not completely created properly.
