Hello,

Whenever i try to open a jpeg file on my xp pro machine, it opens word, then comes up with an error window: "file conversion", and it asks: "select encoding that makes your document readable".

This happens to all jpeg files, not just specific ones. Is there a component missing on windows?

Thanks for your help.

Try Tools > Folder Options > File Types. Somehow your jpegs have been listed as suitable for Word. You need to change this.

Try rightclick on the icon, and use 'OPEN WITH', there is a checkmark that will reset the file association, then choose your program that you use to view pictures with...

If it works don't fix it! If it doesn't use a sledgehammer...

Cheers for you help, it was the file association.
