Hi. A week or two ago I installed a small app that allowed me to print out entire directories. It worked well, however it damaged the registry. Now when I try to double click on a folder or shortcut to a folder it tries to open that folder in CK Rename, an app we use to rename large numbers of files at one time. I've tried a few things but can't find a way to re-link the double click on a folder with opening it. I CAN right click and choose 'open' from halfway down the menu: just can't get 'Open' to be the default action.

Any suggestions?

I would try a System Restore to a day or so before the app was installed.

You may need to go into the registry to fix it.

The article talks about the Search companion opening on double click. The important bit however is how to fix it as you probably need to do the same to get your folders back to normal.

My Thanks to all. Vacunita's ref worked ( having tried about a dozen fixes over the past week )

Now to get some real work done. <G>

Glad I could help.
