Hi,

I have a Windows 2000 server which is a member of a Windows NT 4.0 domain (for which the domain controller is on a different subnet). The server works fine, it can see the domain and access domain resources but when I try to Map a drive to it I get an error: "The target account name is incorrect". I can ping the server, DNS resolves the name and it replies to ping and I've checked the WINS settings which are correct but I can't map a drive unless I use the IP address instead of the name. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Paul

DNS is running on which server?
what happens with nslookup?

check event logs on your pc too, see if anything points to a specific problem there.

links i found:

they all indicate pbs in an active directory environment though....

Got it sorted, the server name still existed in my Active Directory Domain even though the server isn't a member anymore. I deleted the account in Active Directory and that solved the problem.

Thanks :)
