Can't log in to Instant Messenger

I had to rebuild our Exchange server after a disaster last week. It was made particularly awkward by the fact we were running Exhange on a GC.



This weekend, after the reinstall, I'm trying to get IM going again.

I've created a new virtual IM server on the exchange box (called im1.subdomain.domain.com), but I'm a bit unclear about the _rvp DNS record I need to configure:

Does the DNS record need to point to the virtual IM server (as above), or should it point to the physical server Exchange and the im server are installed on? (called EX-55.subdomain.domain.com)?

We run DNS on a separate box now, not on 'EX-55'.
