cant load at startup

i am trying to install directcd (downloaded currect update from roxio.com) after installation, i reboot, then after it reboots, at the startup of windows, i get "DIRECTCD.EXE APPLICATION FAILED TO INITIALIZE (0XC0000142) CLICK ON OK TO CONTINUE" i dont think its directcd. i think it has to do w/ some setting in windows. my other computer has win 2000 and it works flawleesly on it. i am logged on as administrator. i looked up "0xc0000142" on the net and not much came up, bypass travers something...but doesnt refer to this situation.
anyone w/ any ideas??...thanks in advance

Don't know if this will help you any, but I found it in a news.group

I then re-applied the SP1 and it worked without any ill effect on the
Adaptec Software or the CD-RW and DVD hardware. Thus it appears
the trick is to FIRST install und update the Adaptec Software and
then W2k's SP1. Just hope re-installing the rest will not break it again,
but based on Adrian Miller's comments that SP1 is the problem, this
further re-install should not create a problem.
If it does, I'll provide a follow-up.
