I keep getting the same message:

Error 1335-Cannot copy cab file Office1.cab. The file may be corrupt.

The file isn't corrupt and the disks are fine.

I have followed the 'curative' instructions in article number Q314810 ( [cut and paste this link, because it won't show in its entirety]) but nothing works.

This program (Office XP) was working fine until I installed an update for Access 2000 (the only thing not upgraded in my XP package), and then Office became very unstable, its applications remaining on screen for no more than 10 seconds. Now I can not even re-install to the previous set-up... or indeed, to any set-up!

Thank you in advance.

What you need to do is start your computer in safe mode, and through DOS prompt make a flat copy of the CD-ROM on your hard drive, re-boot the system normally and then install office from the hard drive rather than the CD-ROM.

Since your post indicates you are a Technical User, I have not included details.

I'm a technical user? How did that happen?

Yikes!

I didn't even know that you could access DOS through XP!

(However, thanks for the incredibly quick response. This site is amazing, and I shall pass the URL to others.)

Unfortunately, THIS advice does not work, either.

:-(

Two more suggestions

try a different CD Key.

and have you tried using uppercase/lowercase letters for the CD key?
