Hi,

I lost my enable password on my cisco 1751 router, I tried the procedure I found in cisco website to recover the password but i cannot get to rommon prompt. I have tried pressing 'break' couple of times (Alt-B in procomm) but to no avail.

Pls help...

Brake also depend on hyper terminal version / OS version. Sometime when you use Laptop your key pattern does not work. There are some kind of bios setings needed for that.But I am not expert in this.

I will suggest try using other machine, do not prefer laptop.

a lot of versions of hypertierminal require the Ctrl key and break pressed together.

Hello there,

If anything else is failing try the following:
* Conect to the router using console port and cable
* Open a new session in your hyperterminal
* Change the baud speed to 1200
* Power cycle your router
* As soon as the router is coming back press the space bar on your keyboard for at least 15 seconds, not just a hold down but strokes
* Once you see garbage on the hyperteminal window close that hyperteminal session and open a new one at 9600 baud speed
* Now you should be in rommon mode for sure.

Cheers and good luck

thanks for the help, it was really helpful....
