Im setting the page numbers for a magazine document in the master. OK fine. However, now if I want to run a full bleed graphic it covers up the page number. Is there some way to set the numbers in the master page so that they are ALWAYS in front or what can I do? If you could respond to my hotmail account too Id be real happy: jasonmalmberg@hotmail.com

THANKS

The answer is to use layers...and think in layers as you set up the document. The masters and the regular document all share the same layer arrangement, so just create a layer for your page numbers and keep it at the top of the layer stack in your layers palette.

No, no all you have to do is ctrl shift click the pagenumber from the masterpage, and then it will be on top off your graphic

Procab, just selecting a master element doesn't alter it's stacking order, right? If you're working with only one layer in a document, you'd have to both select the page number frame, and then also bring it to the front of the layer it's on if you've covered it up with some other object (like a full page image). My advice is to avoid having to make this adjustment at all by arranging the document in layers. By segregating objects like an automatic page number to it's own top layer, you'll avoid repeatedly having to perform a local override because you won't be covering it with other objects.

Whoops...spoke too soon...Procab is correct...selecting a master object the first time puts it in front of everything else on its layer, so his advice will work. However, I still think working in layers is a preferable way to go because it eliminates the risk of covering those page numbers and not noticing it until it's too late.
