I don't know if this question belongs here, but...
I have on-board USB support for 4 ports. Device manager lists 2 USB controllers and 2 USB hubs and says everything is working properly. However, it also says 2 ports are available on each hub as if they were empty but they are not. I have a scanner connected directly to one on-board USB port and an external 4 port hub connected to the second on-board port. I have a joystick and sound system connected to the 4 port hub. The third and fourth on-board ports are supported but no ports are physically installed. None of the devices is being seen by Windows 98SE. I disabled the on board USB support and installed a 2 USB port PCI card to see if maybe the on board support was whacked but the results and information from device manager were the same. I installed the card, the external hub, and all the devices on another computer and they all work fine.
Any suggestions??? Motherboard problem? BIOS problem? Windows problem?
Thanks
Jeff
