I am trying to export my address book (from OE) as a .csv file to import in another program. When creating the file in OE, it would appear everything went OK (get little message that it completed), but the file is nowhere! I don't understand....... confusedlady

Not sure what version you have (or if it makes a difference), but if I don't specify a path, OE 6 creates the file in My Documents.

Nope. That's where version 5.5 (mine)defaults, too, I think, but I did a find for any .csv file anywhere on HD, and none is there.

I know I haven't done this in a while (not often I need to), so probably not with this version, but I never had problem before... confusedlady

OK try the following

when you go the Export ensure select all the options from the address book to export even if you dont need them , check where you are exporting from and too. I have just sent it to the desk top and have now imported it back in Outlook.

If it keeps up mail again

Thanks prscott. I'll try it over the weekend, since it's my home PC that's the problem. I have a lot of e-mail accounts, and it's a pain adding the same people to all those address books.... confusedlady

I didn't forget abou this, but I just got around to it over the weekend. It turns out that for each identity, I didn't have any contacts or address book. They were all under "shared contacts". I don't know how I specified it that way, though. Anyway, once I copied the same addresses to the contacts, I had no problem.

Currently I have 4 e-mail accounts with my phone company's DSL, and in a few weeks switching to cable access. I was trying to transfer the addresses easily. Figure if I export the book now and just import it after the switch, that will be easy, and I'll have all the addresses I always did.

If anyone has any tips for switching easily, feel free to post away :)
