Can't delete emails from OE

I cannot delete any Inbox messages from OE6 running on Windows 98. Sometimes it works but not often. After I deleted all my Message Rules it worked fine for a couple days and now won't delete again. I can permanently delete from the Deleted Items folder. There are other questions close to this on the forum but none address this. thank you in advance for any ideas.

If possible, move any mail you want to keep to another folder. Close OE, then use Windows Explorer to delete the file inbox.dbx When you restart OE, a new Inbox will be created. See if this helps.
