Can't connect to OLAP server 2000

I have applied service pack 3 and the SQL/OLAP 2000 server has been working fine for months...

all of a sudden i am unable to connect to the OLAP server, SQL is fine...I get an error message...unable to connect to the registry on server X, or you are not a member of the OLAP administrators group on this server.

the user name is definatley a member of the group so
all i can think of is that we have had a third party software application call Gemini installed on the server which uses SQL...could this software have overwritten any files and caused this error?

are you saying that you have applied sp3 to SQL and the problems have started, or that sql has been running ok with sp3?

if the former you may want to check out the cross database chaining issues with sp3 , otherwise I'm not sure

its worked fine running on sp3 for months but now, for some reason, something has changed and i can't connect to the olap server...the only thing that has changed is an additional third party application which has been installed on the server that uses sql tables....this wasnt installed by me but by an external eng. are there any checks i could do to see if he had changed anything?
