Any recent changes to pc? None for weeks/months before problems started (prob started today).
Reboots since 1st occurrence? 2
PC set to "sleep"? No
PC set to hibernate? No.

So what happens?

After being idle (monitor off, 30 minutes and HDD may or may not be off, 60 minutes) we return to the PC and wiggle the mouse to wake the monitor. On it comes. We can move the mouse all over but cannot left or right click on anything. But...we can "fix" this by pressing CTL-ALT-DEL. When the menu opens we CAN click on any of the options. I've chosen TASK MANAGER each time and it opens. I can then subsequently and immediately close it and mouse "click-ability" is now restored.

Weird....

I've searched and found this blog...

which claims that renaming a WORD reg key will fix the issue. Well, I haven't tried that yet because 1 I am not so sure that we've been using any Office products during the session just prior to the issue.

So, I wanted to check here first. Has anyone else experiences this issue? Did you fix it in a way different than following the steps above?

Let me know....

Thanks

I have been frequenting these Forums at Tek-Tips for a number of years now and have not seen any similar stories that you describe.

Give the mentioned fix a go and see what happens, if it doesn't help we can look elsewhere for a possible solution.

OK Folks...the next time it "froze" I executed the steps I linke above and rebooted. That almost a week ago.
