I am installing a pix into a network and recently moved the gateway IP from the router to the pix. the ethernet connections from the router, the pix and the hosts all plug into a cisco switch. i cleared the arp tables from the router, the pix and the switch. i even cleared the mac address lists from the switch. However, there is still an arp entry for an ip (that should now be communicating through the pix) in the arp table on the router.
all was working well until i ran a network ping scan from that ip (just to make sure it was seeing everything). i thought the pix autoblocked that ip but then i noticed the arp entry in the router. I have tried everything i can think of and no luck. any suggestions and how do i keep this from happening in the future.
sorry if this is confusion, i have been banging my head against a wall for the past hour and i need to get this system back online.
