Can't change Background, or IE default

I can't change the background - when I right click on the background, then go to Properties, then the Desktop tab, all of the selections in the scroll box are disabled.

Also, IE won't save my default website, it goes to blank.

Is this new behaviour? Or a new build or user. If new Ibehaviour on a system that's been OK i would first check for malware of some kind.

Definitely malware. I got rid of the malware, but still have these two problems.

Is this occuring on a networked computer in a business environment or on a home network?

Sounds like you still have some BHO's in there. Have you tried hijackthis?
