Cant burn on to CD-RW disc on XP

Hmmm this is strange, went out and bought 5 rerecordable cd's from the shops to use as backup means and i find i cant burn anything to to them cause Xp says theres no disc in the drive. Then i go into Disc Management and it shows up there as healthy but i cant format the CD-RW cause the option for it to Format is greyed out. Am i missing something here? I managed to burn some crap onto a friends CD-RW on my pc not long ago, it was a different CD-RW disc thats about all the differences i could pick out.

Anyone got any clue as to why i cant burn on to these EMTEC CD-RW discs ?
